Saturday, April 21 HOMEWORK

My homework posts are getting later and later. Sorry, everybody!

Ok, so just a few kids have pages left to do in their Grade 1 workbooks -- you have been working so hard, keep up the good work! Do your best to do some more pages, ok?

For the rest of you, I'd like you to choose another Charlie and Lola story to listen to/read. Look at last week's homework post to find the website address. Then, after you listen to and read the story, I'd like you to write in your notebook. Write about something funny that you read in the Charlie and Lola story. Try to write at least THREE sentences, ok? We'll check them in class for

- Spelling
- Capital letters
- Periods

Also, I'd like you to keep reading in your chapter books or magazines.

Saturday, April 14 HOMEWORK

Hi Everybody -- Ok, homework time!!

First of all, let's do our best to reach this week's reading goals in our chapter books and/or magazines. Let me know BEFORE Saturday if you finish your book so I can bring another one with me, ok?

Next, some kids are close to finishing the Triple Smart Grade 1 book ... go for it, you guys!! I am proud of you for trying so hard!

Finally, for the kids who are already finished, Nina and Nick have introduced a great website with some really funny stories about Charlie and his little sister, Lola. Go to this website:

And choose one of the books on the bookshelf. You can listen to these stories, but I also want you to practice reading. SO, as you go to each new page, listen to the story, then, before you click to go to the next page, read the words yourself. THEN you can click on the next page.

When you have finished one Charlie and Lola story, write some sentences in your notebook like this:

I read the story called _________________________.

Then write about one thing you liked about Charlie AND one thing you liked about Lola.

Happy Easter!

Here are some pictures from the Easter party. The egg coloring, games and Easter egg hunt were a blast!! I will have to talk to the Easter bunny about making the Easter egg hunt a little more difficult, though - you guys picked the garden clean in about 3 minutes FLAT!!

Hi Everybody!

Sorry I'm a little late getting the homework assignment posted. Thanks for coming to our Easter party -- it was fun spending the afternoon with all of you. We got Sophie's balloon off the roof after everyone went home!

There are still several kids who have not finished all the pages in the Grade 1 workbook, so I would like you to keep working on that. Everyone also has pages to read in their chapter books. Please do your best to reach your reading goal!

Finally, I'd like each person to write a little bit in the notebook about the Easter party. What activities did you enjoy?
