Hi, Gang!
About our homework this week, I'd like to do a little in our workbooks. We did pages 106 and 107 of the Science section in class, so I'd like you to finish chapter 2 of Science by doing pages 108 and 109. You might want to get Mom or Dad to help you with some the new words:
dormant
hibernate
migrate
On page 109, if you don't know which parts of the map are North America, South America and Mexico, ask your Mom or Dad to help you find them in an atlas or encyclopedia. If you don't have one at home, click on this link to see one online:
Online Atlas
Click on North America or South America to see the different parts of the map in the the textbook.
See you Saturday!

A fun word game to try...
The cabin looks like a fun trip!
I found a nice word game that I think everyone will like.
It's called "flip words". Give it a try!
FLIP WORDS!
Look at the letters and see if you can find words. The letters of the words can be vertical, diagonal, backwards or even curving around (not necessarily in a straight line.
Click the letters of a word you've found in order, then when all the letters are highlighted, click "submit word".
The longer the word, the more points you get. And it the first letter of the word is in the puzzle word at the top, it will appear. If not, it the letter will appear at the top left (this part of the game is like Hangman.) Enjoy!
(Kids may need a little help from a grown-up in guessing the word(s) at the top, but I bet you can find a few in he bottom section.)

Overnight Field Trip
Hi Gang:
As many of the Moms and Dads know, we have been talking about doing a sleepover field trip in July. Ask your Mom and Dad if your family is free to join us for one night, July 15. We are hoping to go to a log house where many of you have been before. Here are some pictures of the house and the area --

We can have a barbeque, go hiking up the mountain to the waterfall, check for fish and frogs in the creek, hunt for insects -- you name it! Please let us know if you and your family can come.

Homework Print
Hi again! I'm sending your homework assignment to your Mom's/Dad's e-mail address. Print it out if you can. If you can't print it, you can do the assignment in your notebook.
See you Saturday...

Homework
I know!! It's so EARLY ... yay, Christie!
By the way, Scott, thanks for posting pictures of the kids hard at work :-) !
Ok, for homework this week, I'd like you to read a story that I found online. Here is the link:
Go Fly A Kite
Read the story, and check our website again (or maybe your Mom or Dad's e-mail...) in a day or two ... I'm going to post or send a vocabulary/spelling homework sheet. If you finish the story before I get the homework print ready, try a little spelling challenge with Frieda the surfer babe! Go to this web page:
Frieda's Surfer Spelling
I'll write again soon with the homework print!

Homework
Hi Everybody!
Let's do some LISTENING and IMAGINING this week. Please visit this website:
http://storiestogrowby.com/cassette/index.html
Look at the first story, called Fur and Feathers (Africa). If you have a printer, click on PRINT THE STORY. Then, click on the place that says FULL STORY (4 minutes) and read along while you listen to the story. (If you don't have a printer, just listen to the story.) When you are done, draw a picture in your notebook to show one thing that happened in the story. Write 2 or 3 sentences to explain your picture.
Finished?
Who wants to play HANGMAN??? Try this online hangman game to practice your spelling:
http://www.vocabulary.cl/Hangman.htm
and choose one of the categories from "mixed vocabulary". Write down all of the words from your game in your notebook. **HINT** Try choosing VOWELS (a,e,i,o,u) first!
See you on Saturday!
